This is a highly collectible Spider-Man comic book from 1990, featuring Todd McFarlane as the cover artist and writer. The comic is a special Silver variant, of the legendary "Torment" run from McFarlane. It has been signed by both Todd McFarlane and the late, great Stan Lee, and includes a unique Clayton Crain signature. It is a limited edition first printing with a variant cover, making it a key issue for Spider-Man fans and collectors. The comic is part of the Spider-Man series titled "Spider-Man: Torment 1 of 5" and is set in the Marvel Universe.
Although the signatures make this copy amazing in itself, the absolutely stunning remarque by Crain puts this in a category of its own! I've seen hundreds of remarques , and I own several of my own, but this one is without a doubt one of the most beautiful pieces of artwork that I've seen. There have been a few artists to attempt to remarque this cover (which has to be a daunting and nerve racking feat, considering the value if you make a mistake), one that comes to mind is Mico Suayan's "Spawn" remarque. I've seen a Deadpool remarque and a Batman before. None of them has been done with quite the attention to detail as this one, in my opinion at least.
This one actually looks like it could pass as part of the cover art, which is insane really. It's hard to let this one go, as it's definitely one of my favorites, if not my absolute favorite remarque. There is no COA included with this one unfortunately. He had an amazing, extensive collection of some extremely rare and valuable keys, variants, artist proofs and signed singles both slabbed and raw, so I had no reason to doubt that he was telling the truth. I've looked at the signatures in detail and I for one can't find anything that would lead me to believe that they are anything but authentic, but I'll leave you to make that call for yourself.
If someone is talented enough to pull this cover art off, and to do it at well as it's done, then they should really look into a career in comic art, because it is just crazy good. Since it doesn't come with COA, and hasn't been graded, I'm asking a fairly low price all things considered. So this is really a steal at this price point, you can't deny that. Get it while I still haven't come to my senses and kept it for myself, because it's sure to either sell quickly, or ended by myself. Either way, it won't be around long!
